Are you tired of politics? Are the candidates’ insults getting to you? Do you want to vote for candidates who have a real chance of changing things?
Take a look at this:
Personally, I’m a Browncoat, but I respect the opinions of others. Though, a Reynolds/Cobb ticket would be awesome. And I don’t say awesome about just anything.
So, here’s the deal: name the TV show or movie each of these symbols represent and it will count as an entry for your choice of None But You or For You Alone. You don’t have to reveal how you would vote, but if you do, that might be counted as another entry.
This contest will thankfully run only to the 29th and not until November. YAY!
Take care–Susan Kaye

While I already have NBY and FYA, I have to say an Organa/Solo ticket would be the ultimate for me. Not Solo/Organa because she is, after all, the politician in the family.
Because I have them already, I won’t list the TV shows/movies, but good luck to everyone!
You show far more knowledge of Star Wars than I. Solo I know, but Organa, not so much. Thanks for dropping by, AmyFlo.
Firefly
Star Wars
Harry Potter
Dr WHO
I am such a geek…love them all
but would vote
Whovian ticket
So does the Whovarian ticket change every few seasons as the doctor does? I’m not clear on that one.
Firefly
Star Wars The Empire Strikes back
Harry Potter
Dr. Who
I’m like Stephanie, I love them all but it has to be Firefly…. come on Nathan Fallion!!!!!!!!
Yes, another right-thinking person!
Firefly, Star Wars, Harry Potter, Dr. Who.
My ticket would be Skywalker/Solo. Kenobi could be the Sec. of State.
Is it fair to use Jedi mind control when negotiating … what am I saying? This is politics. All’s fair in love, war, and getting the vote!!
I think some Jedi mind control is in order. “You don’t want to raise our taxes. These ‘droids don’t pay taxes.”
YES!!
Firefly (that’s the “Serenity”!), Star Wars (an AT-AT walker), Harry Potter (is that a Griffin?), and Dr. Who (I’m a geek, but not enough to know what that shape is!).
I’d totally vote for the Browncoat party! If for no other reason than to bring back “Firefly”. I weep at the loss….
You’re not alone, Laura. I still hold regular candlelight vigils. I’m angry that Nathan Fillion gave up and took another job instead of waiting for the call back from Joss Whedon. Okay, so did most of the rest of the cast, but what is a ship without its leader!?!
robin gives me the idea that perhaps we should go with Reynolds for prez, Zoe for Vice, and Jane as Secretary of State. Who’s going to mess with Jayne Cobb?
Oh yeah, I AM a geek.
No, no– Jane has to be Secretary of Defense! Shepherd Book has to be Secretary of State. And Dr. Simon is the Surgeon General.
Not sure who Inara would be…
I’m not sure about Inara either. There’s Health and Human Services, but that just seems nasty somehow. Kaylee at the head of the Commerce Dept. That encompasses industrial concerns and I think she’s perfect there.
No matter, I think the crew of Firefly is our front running team!
I can go with Simon for SG, but I’m thinking Book should be Ambassador to the UN–it needs all the prayer it can get. Wash and his minions of dinosaurs can handle Defense. I want a glowering Cobb at the negotiating table, stroking the trigger of Vera throughout any conversations!
Jayne Cobb and Vera would win any negotiation! Oh, the mental picture of him just staring at some insolent diplomat, Vera at his side.
Wash defending “This Land” would work.
What about River? She can kill with her brain, after all. And Zoe can kill with her pinky. Put them on defense too.
Yes, see, we have a Dept of Defense that can take care of ANYTHING. Cobb at the negotiating table nearly guarantees they will have nothing to do!
Sorry had to dash off….yes
the Whovian ticket is the perfect
way to go….The Doctor has hundreds
years of experience and every so often
you get a “new” candidate but he
still has all the knowledge from before…
I’m so far to the right of non-tech nerdy (which is totally different from geeky) that I can’t get the image to do anything. I thought the Whovians were Dr. Seuss’s Whoville folks. If that were the case then I’d vote for Horton, with Obi Wan Kenobi as a running mate. LOL!
Firefly, Star Wars, Harry Potter and Dr Who.
I do not know who i would vote for. Most likely Potter but I have been getting into Dr. WHo too.
Harry Potter then Dr. Who or vice versa. I love them both!
Firefly (sigh), Star Wars, Harry Potter and Dr. Who.
I’m a Browncoat…so very much a Browncoat. Love me some Nathan Fillion.
I’m a geek too, love all 4 “franchises”, but deeply miss Firefly.
Harry Potter hasn’t been gone long enough for us to miss him, and the others, eh. Browncoat all the way.
Obviously, no one here except for me stood in line in the middle of the night to see the second Star Wars movie – and it was SO worth it.
No, I have stayed the night in front of a theatre, stadium, or arena for tickets. After all, Robin, this IS just fiction.
We pulled an all-nighter for the midnight showing of Star Wars: Episode 1 back in ’98. Jar Jar binks was such a traumatic experience, I’m not sure when I got around to seeing Episode 2. We did go, but the urgency was lost.
I hear you! And for the same reasons we saw the next two but only out of some odd desire for continuity. Episode 3 was see at a tiny screening room with access to a bar. I think beer and fries were my main objective.
If you’ll take a Canadian entry, I’d love to win something, anything.
Regardless, here are my answers and thoughts:
Firefly (love it, so sad there was only one season and a movie!)
Star Wars (loved it before Lucas messed with it, still have VHS of the original trilogy with original special effects)
Harry Potter (very cool, would like a series with Harry and Ron’s kids)
Doctor Who (fell in love in 2005, keep meaning to watch some old episodes and any specials available on Netflix)
Canadians are welcome. For purposed of this contest you’re a North American and eligible.
The last Dr. Who I watched with regularity was Tom Bakker and his l-o-n-g striped scarf.
Well, I’m a Whovian for sure!! (last symbol…. I miss K-9…and Tom Baker!) Not that I don’t care about the qualities of Firefly, Star Wars and Harry Potter… but Doctor Who with Tom Baker was the one with the best creativity and good sense, in my opinion, so I would vote for him any time in an election!! Thanks for the give away!
Firefly, Star Wars, Harry Potter, Dr. Who. Star Wars all the way. Was indoctrinated by my dad (like mostly all political views are) at the age of 5 and haven’t looked back!!
Genius giveaway, loved it! I am just not decided on what pair I think is best yet. Maybe I can ask them to recap a Jane Austen novel and the one that does it best can get my vote. Think it would work?
Browncoat is from Firefly
Imperialist is from Star Wars
Potterhead is from Harry Potter
Whovian is from Dr. Who
