Those Pesky Resolutions

New YearsAh, New Year’s Eve. A time to reflect, a time to look ahead.

And to help citizens,USA.gov has put its oar in.

USA.gov (“Government Made Easy” … who knew?) is the U.S. government’s official web portal, making it easy for the public to get U.S. government information and services on the web. In its Happy New Year post, the site lists the top New Year’s Resolutions Americans like to make.

Helpful links are provided. But the sad truth is that most of us know what we need to do in order to …

• Lose Weight
• Volunteer to Help Others
• Quit Smoking
• Get a Better Education
• Get a Better Job
• Save Money
• Get Fit
• Eat Healthy Food
• Manage Stress
• Manage Debt
• Take a Trip
• Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle
• Drink Less Alcohol

My most desperate resolution, Finish The Danged Book Manuscript, is at the top of my list this year. I guess USA.gov doesn’t know about that one. (Or maybe it’s considered Get a Better Job?)

What about you? Which of these – besides the annoying Lose Weight one — resonate with you? Ha, which will be the first you’ll break?

Happy New Year! And thanks for hanging out with us here at Jane Started It!

Annoying to see how many of these are interrelated, yes. For instance, to accomplish my second resolution, Take a Trip, I would have to both Manage Debt and Save Money. Get a Better Job might help.

For me, “Wag More, Bark Less” translates to “Write More (marketable fiction), Gripe Less.”

      Happy New Year, Gayle.

Lose weight, get fit, and eat healthy food tops my list. They’re all in the same category, I guess. After all, I want to look good in the pics with my grandbaby. Right now, they’re thinking it’s a GIRL!!! Yay! Or a BOY! Yay!

2013 was a banner year for your Mandy. So many wonderful life changes!

As I recall, you were delighted with her new husband, and with seeing the “grand-doggie.” But a baby? What is better than that? Yes, God does restore “the years that the locust has eaten”! (Joel 2:25) Blessings to Mandy and all your family in 2014.
