He Is Worthy of All Praise

“Praise the LORD! Praise God in His sanctuary; Praise Him in His mighty expanse. Praise Him for His mighty deeds; Praise Him according to His excellent greatness. Praise Him with trumpet sound; Praise Him with harp and lyre. Praise Him with timbrel and dancing; Praise Him with stringed instruments and pipe. Praise Him with loud cymbals; Praise Him with resounding cymbals. Let everything that has breath praise the LORD. Praise the LORD!” Psalm 150

Praise Him everywhere. Praise Him in the heavenly places. Praise Him on earth. Praise Him together in His church. Praise Him individually as You are His temple. Praise Him for all He does. Praise Him for Who He is. He is good, mighty, righteous, merciful, compassionate, faithful, everlasting. Praise Him with instruments: brass, strings, woodwinds, tambourines, drums, and cymbals. Praise Him with your body as the Spirit moves you. We are commanded, along with all creatures that breathe, to praise the Lord. And we’re reminded that if we don’t praise Him, the rocks and the mountains will shout forth His praises. He is worthy of all praise.

We can have instruments of praise and not use them. A musical instrument is mute until someone takes it up and breathes life into it. Our mouths, so quick to criticize and express our displeasure, remain useless until we take up the chorus and lift our voices in praise.

Our fellowship is blessed with talented musicians and a worship leader who desires, above all things, to lead people to the throne of God as we play and sing praises to the Maker of Heaven and Earth. What a joy it is to join our voices together and pour out those offerings to God. Our God inhabits the praise of His people.

Someone once asked me if music ran in our family. Music doesn’t just “run” in our family; it skips, hops, jumps, leaps, twirls, and dances. It brings me indescribable pleasure and ushers me into the very presence of God. Music is God’s gift to us. Praise is our thanks to Him.

Let all that have breath praise the Lord!

Father, I praise You! You alone are worthy to be praised. Open my heart to hear Your song, the song of the redeemed. Amen
